Work
When did you start working at Powell Tate?
May, 2023.
What do you like the most about your job?
I work on CDC accounts/ public health-specific communications which I find to be important and exciting, especially at a time when disinformation is so rampant.
I love being able to “do” and push forward messaging that not only makes science more accessible, but also has the power to change thoughts and positively impact health behaviors.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever gotten?
At a job you should always be learning or earning. One is good, both are best. If it’s neither, it’s time to move on.
What is the most interesting work trip you’ve ever taken?
When I worked at the Association of Public Health Laboratories, I presented at a conference in Barcelona. Hard to top that!
If you weren’t working in this industry, what would you want to do?
Likely something reproductive justice related.
I’ve always been passionate about advocating for everyone’s right to safe, high-quality reproductive health services and ensuring that everyone has the agency to make decisions about their own bodies and lives. As a previous Planned Parenthood employer once told me, “When advocacy’s in your blood, it’s part of you for life.”
Life
What’s something surprising people might not know about you?
I’m obsessed with the New York Times crossword puzzle and share an account with my dad. We are on day 1527 (as of 9/18/2024) of correct/ completed puzzles.
What’s your favorite way to unwind in your free time?
I do a lot to unwind and destress – hiking/ exercising, reading, watching TV, and of course snuggling with my perfect pup, Cosmo.
What is your favorite food to make or eat?
I’ve been on a Shakshuka kick for a while. It’s so simple and yummy. I think I’ve finally perfected the recipe and spice level, but it’s been a work in progress 😊.
Where is your hometown, and what do you like or miss the most about it?
Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Go Pack!). My family – I grew up down the street from all my cousins. We’re all super close and I miss them a lot!
What is the most used app on your phone?
Probably Pinterest – it’s been key for wedding planning!
